I’m moving into my new apartment … but when?
You can come and go as you please but don't be fooled. Your personal effects (furniture, boxes etc) must get past the beady eyes of Security (which nearly all buildings in Dubai have). You need signed paperwork etc. Some take up to 5 days. Don't sign
This relates to nearly all apartments and villas so double check with the community security or office before signing any contract.
This Permit allows you to move in. If you want to move out you need another permit.
These are there for your safety. It would stop any one trying to leave with someone else’s belongings, it allows for any parking arrangements for removal trucks.
EMAAR Developments
They provide MIPs but they can take up to 5 days to organise so don’t try to move in before then.. which means you should also make sure the Tenancy Contract is dated correctly otherwise you’re paying for something you’re not getting!

Myth
You don’t need to let anyone know – just turn up – I’ve given you the keys.
Fact
Don’t listen to the agents. Do your own check:
Speak to Security – if there is a reception desk they’re usually the ones to ask, if not, speak to the parking lot security.
Myth
Oh, the MIP only takes 2 hours – I’ve done it many times before. It’s easy.
Fact
As mentioned above, for Emaar developments the MIP takes 5 days. Other developments usually take less time but always double check.
